Don’t Have Passport? Here’s How to Make It

Passports are an important requirement when traveling or traveling across countries, when applying for land, sea and air transportation. If you can submit an application for a new passport that can be done online through the ‘Passport Queue’ application which can be downloaded at the Google Play Store, or manually at the immigration office in each region. Making a passport requires a fee of IDR 350,000 for a normal passport with 48 pages, and IDR 650,000 for an ordinary passport with 48 electronic pages. Whereas for the passport acceleration service which can be completed on the same day requires a fee of IDR 1 million with the acceleration service excluding the passport issuance fee.

Passport Type

Currently, Indonesia has six types of passports that are used according to their respective needs. The three most popular types are ordinary, diplomatic and service passports. Meanwhile, the other three passports are passports of foreigners, groups, and Hajj and Umrah. The following reviews the three most popular types of passports:

1. Ordinary Passport
Common passports are the most widely issued type of passport. Generally, this type of passport is issued for regular travel. In Indonesia, passports are usually given a green cover and issued by the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Order and Human Rights.

2. Diplomatic Passport
Next, there is the diplomatic passport. As the name implies, this type of passport is issued to identify a diplomatic representative of a country. The owner of this passport will get some facilities and immunity in the country where they work. In Indonesia, diplomatic passports are given a black cover and issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

3. Service Passport
Service or legal passports are issued to technicians and administrative officers from a diplomatic mission carried out abroad. Service passport holders also receive some conveniences that ordinary passport holders do not have. In Indonesia, service passports are given a blue cover and are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after obtaining permission from the State Secretariat.
