Here are 5 reasons why you should go to MocoSik Festival 2019

After successfully holding Prambanan Jazz 2019 some time ago, this time Rajawali Indonesia Communication is ready to pamper the public with another prestigious event, namely the MocoSik Festival. As is known, MocoSik is an annual festival designed to bring together two different cultures, namely books and music, on one stage

So, what do you think if books and music are put together on one stage? The two cultures that are included in the realm of cultural literacy are summarized in one acronym. In Javanese, ‘maca’ or ‘moco’ means reading, while ‘sik’ means ‘music’. This year’s MocoSik Festival 2019 carries the big tagline Books, Music and You. Just like the previous year, this book exhibition celebration will be held for three days on 23, 24, 25 August 2019 at the Jogja Expo Center.

1. Book exhibition and music concert.

MocoSik is the first festival in Indonesia to bring together books and music on one big stage. Of course, the cultural literacy that we are trying to target is bringing books closer to concert goers and familiarizing literate people with music, especially the latest Indonesian music.

A number of top musicians were also lined up to enliven this prestigious event. Apart from featuring Tulus, Yura Yunita and Pusakata, legendary musicians such as Ebiet G. Ade will also appear. There are also Dialog Dini Hari, Sudjiwo Tedjo, Tashoora, Langit Sore, Ecoutez and even a love poetry concert conducted by writer and director, Agus Noor.

2. Interactive talk show.

Apart from musicians and music concerts, there are also a number of names who will fill ten chat sessions and workshops on music, film and fine arts which of course still have a correlation with books and literacy. They are Yoris Sebastian, Zen RS, Joko Pinurbo, Eko Prasetyo, Edi Mulyono, Aguk Irawan, Windy Ariestanty, Iqbal Aji Daryono, Kalis Mardiasih and many more. Wow, interesting isn’t it?

3. There is an art exhibition.

Like the second year’s performance, in this third year MocoSik also presented an art exhibition. The theme of this year’s MocoSik art exhibition space is Timeline of Indonesian Literature. Bakkar Wibowo as co-founder of MocoSik explained that this book exhibition will collaborate with the classic book community, Record Store.

“We will present for three days old books on literature or the humanities and artifacts from the world of music from the past. “We are collaborating with the community that has been playing classic books and also the Record Store based in Yogyakarta,” said Bakkar.

According to Bakkar, the presence of books with high historical value and a number of magazines at least shows the millennial generation that the past is fun and not boring.

4. Massive book hotsale.

This time, the MocoSik exhibition featured nearly one million copies of books in the Jogka Expo Center Great Hall, attended by 120 participants from law enforcement groups throughout Indonesia. In terms of themes, it could be said that the books exhibited at the 2019 MocoSik Festival are quite diverse. Starting from children’s books to humanities and politics. In fact, there are also publishers of imported books who are also joining in. For those of you who want to hunt for cheap books, don’t worry! In this exhibition there will be a special area for books which will be sold for only IDR 10,000.

5. Affordable ticket prices.

One of the characteristics of MocoSik is when books are used as proof of entry. Visitors are required to buy books with a certain amount as a condition for entering the big music concert stage. The presale ticket price is IDR 75,000 for one day. MocoSik entrance tickets will go on sale online and don’t forget to visit our site to get other interesting information by click here
